Elementary Teacher

The Catholic School Elementary Teacher works with the administration to carry out the educational policies of the diocese and has responsibilities that are professional, instructional, managerial, and interpersonal. At Saint Gregory the Great School, our mission calls us to educate the whole childโ€”mind, body, and spiritโ€”while nurturing a community rooted in faith, service, and academic excellence. Teachers are expected to facilitate the learning of each student, comply with school rules and policies, and provide for the safety of students. The teacher is hired and appraised by the Principal and is expected to abide by the established policies and procedures of the Diocese of Richmond, particularly the Office of Catholic Schools.


Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Observe all school and diocesan directives, adhering to guidelines regarding curriculum
  • Obtain, read, and be familiar with the Staff/Faculty Handbook
  • Collaborate with colleagues on instructional decisions and school procedures/events
  • Prepare lesson plans that reflect clear objectives, effective procedures, and a range of activities to respond to individual differences
  • Create a positive classroom environment to support the whole child- academically and spiritually
  • Differentiate instruction and integrate technology to meet the needs of all students
  • Evaluate the performance of students in a variety of ways to measure comprehension and growth
  • Plan and supervise field trips as appropriate to emphasize lessons or further the education of students, following all school and diocesan guidelines
  • Fulfill record-keeping requirements such as attendance, report cards, and progress reports
  • Support and maintain positive partnerships with parents and community
  • Help maintain a safe environment and follow the approved procedures regarding the health and safety of the students
  • Maintain high professional and ethical standards in all school-related activities
  • Participate in diocesan and school-sponsored in-service programs and attend staff development opportunities to ensure continued professional growth

Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree
  • Must be licensed and/or certified to teach your area of responsibility by the state of Virginia
  • Each teacher is responsible for maintaining and updating his/her own certification

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time, 10 month position. Travel time is sometimes required for diocesan meetings, field trips, and other assigned responsibilities. A classroom, necessary books, and supplies are provided by the school.

Physical Demands/Environment:

The teacher is expected to supervise students and the safe environment of the school, and may involve work in classrooms, the computer lab, the library, and other parts of our campus.

GATE Program Teacher

The Catholic School Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Teacher works with the administration to carry out the educational policies of the diocese and has responsibilities that are professional, instructional, managerial, and interpersonal. Junior Kindergarten Aide

Description

Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School is seeking a Full Time Junior Kindergarten Instructional Aide. The instructional aide’s primary objective is to provide an environment where academic excellence, discipline, and Christian values are integrated into the daily lives of Saint Gregory the Great students. The aide position is established to support the instructional efforts of the classroom teacher. It is the goal of each member of the staff to instill in students the importance of lifelong learning, academic excellence, faith, and service as embedded in the Gospel message. All staff are expected to make a positive contribution to the community at large through love, patience, and understanding.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS

Help the classroom teacher with daily preparations.
Aid students during whole class and small group instruction.
Assist the teacher in completing individual assessment of students.
Assist the teacher with instructional materials and classroom organization.
Collect notes, money, permission slips, communication envelopes, etc.
Count and record money and payments for trips, fundraisers, etc.
Record absences and tardies for student records.
Help maintain student folders to foster parent communication.
Act as substitute when teacher is absent or in other grades when needed. โ€ข Maintain a positive/confi dential relationship with students, parents, professional peers, and the community.
Discipline in a fair and respectful manner while encouraging self-discipline.
Complete additional duties as assigned by the administration: yard duty, recess, and dismissal duties.

Description

Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church is seeking a Director of Parish Administration and Operations.

The Director of Parish Administration & Operations serves as the senior administrative leader of St. Gregory the Great and a key member of the parish senior leadership team. In collaboration with the Pastor, Principal and Director of Parish Life & Pastoral Ministries, this position provides comprehensive oversight of all parish and school operations to ensure excellence in stewardship, compliance, and organizational effectiveness in support of the parish mission and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

This position oversees Facilities, Finance, Stewardship, Human Resources, Safe Environment compliance, parish calendar management, and the parish Daycare, ensuring that all operational systems function efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with diocesan policies and best practices. The Director also partners closely with parish school leadership on shared operational and facilities needs, supporting coordinated stewardship of campus resources and infrastructure. Through strategic operational leadership, the Director provides both vision and practical oversight for the parishโ€™s administrative infrastructure while exercising strong financial acumen and fiscal stewardship to safeguard parish resources and ensure long-term sustainability.

The Director of Parish Administration & Operations provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of parish infrastructure, financial health, campus maintenance, and administrative systems so that clergy and ministry leaders may focus fully on pastoral and evangelization efforts. This role requires organizational systems thinking, strong facilities and asset management expertise, and effective personnel management and team development to cultivate a collaborative, accountable staff culture. The Director maintains vigilant risk management and compliance oversight, demonstrates consistent discretion and confidentiality, and exercises collaborative leadership within a parish environment, partnering with clergy, staff, and volunteers to advance the mission and life of the parish community.

Requirements

ยท     Qualification:  

  •      Bachelorโ€™s Degree required; degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or related field preferred
  •      Minimum 5โ€“7 years of progressive leadership experience in administration, finance, operations, or facilities management
  •      Demonstrated experience overseeing a multi-building campus and managing facility maintenance and capital projects
  •      Strong financial management background, including budgeting and reporting
  •      Experience supervising staff across multiple operational areas
  •      Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred
  •      Knowledge of diocesan structures and parish life strongly preferred
  •      Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  •     Proficiency in Microsoft Office and parish management/accounting systems
  •     Understanding of employment law and HR best practices

Working Conditions:

This position is full-time and based out of the St. Gregory the Great Parish.  It is primarily office-based with frequent campus presence.  Conditions include: 

  • Regular interaction across the entire parish campus, including multiple buildings
  • Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities
  • Position will require lifting up to 30 pounds, regular walking of the campus grounds, and site inspections
  • Occasional diocesan meetings and training
